Our Goal

To create a conducive environment for young BME men and women to develop into successful, independent, socially and economically equipped individuals of the future. AccessUK aims to achieve this by:

1. IMPROVING BME ACCESS & WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP

Helping the youth to make informed decisions about their careers and future prospects by exposing the level of support and services, that are available to them in the community. There are currently a number of  organisations and employers youths simply are not aware of or consider to be ignorant of their specific barriers to employment in the labour market.

Ultimately reverse the deplorable figure of 1/2 black youths unemployed and high minority ethnic unemployment.

2. CHANGING PERCEPTIONS & MINDSET

AccessUK strongly believes BME youth initiatives will consistently fail if programmes are not complemented by a strong focus on re-educating the youth. There is a cultural and historical disconnect amongst BME youth today which needs to be addressed.

We have highly experienced consultants on board who will place youths into employment and training. AccessUK's unique selling point is the fact that we recognise the importance of embedding cultural awareness in our employability programmes. This is a crucial element of BME community engagement that mainstream providers are oblivious to and "equal opportunity" company statements will not satisfy

AccessUK will work hard to tackle this problem which stems from a general lack of knowledge of stakeholders, about the BME community. We want to share best practice and positively influence the future of BME IAG services in the UK.

3. PROMOTING EQUALITY & DIVERSITY IN THE WORKPLACE

Gain equality of access and opportunity in the labour market for Black and minority ethnic youths.

Expose opportunities and support, that exist in the labour market for ex-offenders and promote anti-gang initiatives.

4. ENABLING YOUTH ENTERPRISE

Open the doors for youths to pursue self employment and expand their horizons beyond music, sport and entertainment.

Access UK will work closely with business start up and training organisations to push this important agenda forward.

5. BLACK TO THE FUTURE

Exposing opportunities in apprenticeships, further education and employment which previously may have been overlooked by BME youths.

Working with employers to encourage progressive recruitment practices that understands the commercial and social value of a diverse workforce and customer base.

6. REMOVING EMPLOYER STIGMA

Encouraging employers to offer ex-offenders opportunities, jobs and training-giving the youth a second chance.

Offering gang members a desirable alternative to gangs and a perspective life of underacheivement, imprisonment and death. AccessUK wants to reduce  BME gang involvement in the UK.

7. INNOVATIVE USE OF WORKSHOPS

Provide tailored and interactive workshops which are designed to boost the motivation and confidence of service users, identify reasons for and provide solutions to tackle BME unemployment.
